Anne Frank - A house with a story

The Anne Frank House is the house on Prinsengracht in Amsterdam where Anne Frank wrote her famous diary “The Annex” during Second World War. After the war the entire Building – Anne’s hiding place – was turned into a museum. This CD-ROM, designed for both adults and young people, gives a clear picture of Anne Frank herself, her family, the house, the Second World War, the hiding from the occupying forces and the holocaust.
The house on the CD-ROM has been laid out just as it was during the time when Anne was hiding there. By moving the mouse we can view all around and move through the building. We can request supplementary information on the buildings and on the objects we encounter.
As the content is presented either 2- dimensionally or 3-dimensionally, users have the impression that they themselves are standing in the square. Similar kind of experience could not be achieved through any other media – the clever usage of interaction indeed offers added value to the user.

Bloody Sunday Inquiry VR Assitant

The Bloody Sunday Inquiry VR Assistant has been designed to support witness testimony at a public inquiry into the shooting of 35 people during a public demonstration in Northern Ireland in 1972. Lord Mark Saville, Chairman of the Tribunal of Inquiry in 1998, passionately believes that information technology can help his panel. One of the most exciting tools in use at the inquiry is a “virtual reality” system using Apple Quick Time. The system works as a touch screen application in the inquiry setting and enables people with little or no computer knowledge to describe their movements and illustrate and illustrate for the inquiry what they saw during the events of January 30th 1972. It allows them to observe the location that has undergone considerable redevelopment.
Since the events of 1972. Their testimony is recorded, together with the directional movement on the screen. Witness can thus support their testimony with direct illustrations and therefore present a clearer Picture of the observations.

Elmo’s & Bert’s & Ernie’s Computer Phone

Elmo’s & Bert’s & Ernie’s Computer Phone is an interactive educational programme for pre-school children using a 12–button telephone as its only input device. Neither keyboard nor mouse is used. The telephone allows the child to influence what happens on the screen both by giving voice commands and by pressing the telephone buttons. With the Computer Phone, the familiar and loveable characters react to the child’s voice and encourage children to exercise language skills, expand their vocabulary and arouse their senses. With the help of Bert’s and Ernie’s computerised phone children will learn how to count properly, and become familiar with numbers, shapes and colours as well as developing social skills like cooperation and learning to accept others.
The child can speak to Elmo, and record its own voice on an answering machine which can be played back at any time This makes using the application highly interactive and entertaining.
