Wii game “Swords and Soldiers” wins the EUROPRIX Multimedia Awards 2009

euorprix 09 winnersOut of seven category-winners, Ronimo Games, a young company from the Netherlands received the Overall Winner-Price for the exceptional Nintendo Wii Game "Swords and Soldiers".

"Swords and Soldiers" is a wonderful and fresh mix of Real Time Strategy gameplay and the graphical presentation of traditional side scrolling arcade games. The result is an innovative blend that makes the rather complex genre of Real Time Strategy much more accessible to a wider audience, as casual gamers can connect and understand it much easier. And yet while the game is keeping a simple and casual appearance it shows all the strategic gameplay depth that one has come to expect from the best games in this genre!

The game is full of fresh ideas, is sparkling with humour and instantly immerses the player into the world of the game with its simple and highly entertaining stories and characters.
The game is globally available for download in Nintendo's online store Wiiware and has quickly gained a large following of gamers worldwide. "Swords & Soldiers" impressed the jury as well as game critics all over the world, and it absolutely deserves the praise.

Europe's most creative and innovative projects. At the award ceremony in the Seifenfabrik in Graz, Austria on November 14th, the following categories winners were announced besides "Swords & Soldiers" which won also in the category "Games".
In the category Online/Web Projects the website "Donkeypedia" is the winner. The award for Mobile Applications was given to the Austrian project "Showtime" and "vuvox" from Israel won the category Interactive Computer Graphics. In the Interactive Installations category " akustisch - sound producing multitouch gestures " convinced the jury. "flow-er" was chosen among all submitted Content Tools & Interface Designs and in Digital Video & Animations "deconstruct" is the winner. The Finish project "moogo.com" received the Special Award for the project with the best business potential. A special jury mention for a game with a high level of interactive storytelling goes to the German Project: "The acventures of Tinger". All projects are presented online: www.europrix.org

EUROPRIX Multimedia Awards. Out of more than 340 submissions from all over Europe, 20 projects were nominated for the EUROPRIX Multimedia Awards 2009. The competition took place for the 12th time and focused on young creatives in 38 countries. Former EUROPRIX winners are today well-known professionals in the field of digital media creation. As a cut surface for creativity, science and economy, this competition offers a unique network for the European talents in the creation of interactive media.

The EUROPRIX Multimedia Festival will take place in the Austrian culture hot-spot of Graz, in mid-November. Attracting producers, opinion leaders, communication experts and business executives from all over Europe, the festival is the epicentre of the up-and-coming European multimedia scene. "On no other place and in no other context are any comparable fruitful co-operations fixed. The future of the young scene is constructed at and around this festival", concludes Prof. Peter A. Bruck, head of EUROPRIX.

Finalist teams will not be left alone with their success: they will be promoted at road show events throughout Europe, take centre stage of a special exhibition at the Museum of Technology in Vienna, and gain a highly coveted place in the EUROPRIX yearbook.

EUROPRIX 2008: Multimedia guru Tom Roope at the EUROPRIX

Tom Roope(Graz/Salzburg, November 18th 2008) Tom Roope leaves traces. Predominantly via digital media. In Graz also linguistically. As a worldwide recognized expert in the field of digital media, Roope shows young talents the way through the endless spaces of the World Wide Web and the successful use of multimedia. The EUROPRIX Multimedia Festival, which takes place from 28th until 29th November in Graz, is therefore a suitable atmosphere. Two days long, the Kunsthaus Graz will be the meeting point for young creatives, science and economy from all over Europe.

On the trail of worldwide trends. Tom Roope gives young designers the advice to reflect their selves from in- and outside. "The trick is to balance an understanding of yourself and the world. Where is the world going, and how can I fit in? Interaction design is still evolving at an amazing rate, and it just takes some thinking, planning and effort to come out where we want to be", says the multimedia-expert. Roope gained foothold in the field of multimedia in the early 90ies. In the international news were his works at tomato interactive, where he created projects amongst other things for Sony, Levi's, Massive Attack and MTV.

EUROPRIX Multimedia Festival. On the 28th and 29th November everything is about eContent and multimedia applications at the Kunsthaus Graz. Speeches from
international creatives and the projects from the 23 nominees, everyone will experience new media for touching and trying their hands at. At the ceremonial gala on November 29th at the Seifenfabrik, the EUROPRIX Multimedia Awards will be awarded in nine categories and one special category. EUROPRIX 2008: The EUROPRIX Multimedia Festival presents Europe's best young creative’s in Graz
Salzburg/Graz, 16. Oktober 2008

(Salzburg/Graz, October 19th 2008) "Mijn naam is Haas" is a Dutch DVD, on the basis of which pupils from elementary school can accompany a rabbit, who lost his memory, on his journey through a fascinating world. The children whose mother tongue is not Dutch and the rabbit help each other. So, they learn the language and the culture while playing. This multimedia-story is used successfully in Dutch schools. Within a short time period this winner-project of EUROPRIX got a learning program usable in diverse domains. To support young creative people is the aim of EUROPRIX Multimedia Festival, which takes place this year in Graz from 27-29th of November.

"The EUROPRIX Award gives you everything you need for a career in the multimedia field", says Adam Montandon from Britain, who's invention "Eye-borg" allows colour blind people to "hear" colours. The winner of EUROPRIX Awards 2004 in the category "Interface Design" is nowadays a successful business man and multimedia-designer. His works were also exhibited at Gallery Tate Britain in London. 23 young European talents will be in the focus of EUROPRIX Multimedia Festival in Graz this November. At the Kunsthaus Graz the projects are going to be presented during a three-day-long festival. They stand out because of creativity, joy of innovation and an unconventional use of new technologies. Top-Talents up to 30. The EUROPRIX Multimedia Awards are for young, creative talents up to 30 years who are standing at the beginning of their working life and just have left their universities. With the focus on design-innovation, technical creativity and originality of the concept the EUROPRIX distinguishes clearly from other competitions. It is the aim to support young professionals all over Europe on their way to daily business and to build a platform to present the best European multimedia-projects.

Playing fairy tales digitally
Winner of the EUROPRIX 08 captures French nursery schools

Tom Roope(Salzburg/Graz, November 29th 2008) The interactive multimedia-desk "mü" wins the EUROPRIX 08 and French nursery school kids may take a dive into adventurous fairy tale-worlds. Five extremely talented students from "Gobelins, l'école de l'image" in Paris fabulously personalized famous fairy tale-characters for children. Every kid becomes a storyteller and creates stories interactively.

Interactive fairy tales for children.
With „mü", Pierre Thirion, Béatrice Lartigue, Wahiba Khadri, Erik Escoffier and Simon Doury animated the characters out of the children's opera "Peter and the Wolf" in an unique way and give children the opportunity to play with tangible objects onto an interactive desk. Music and figures help children to develop the joy of learning while playing, teachers accompany them and parents may watch the projects of their offspring via internet and download them at home.

The EUROPRIX awards creative projects from young designers and developers from all over Europe every year in nine categories. Federal and provincial departments of Science and Economy from Austria and the province of Styria work together. The gala took place on November 29th in line with the EUROPRIX Multimedia Festival in Graz.

Europe's most innovative projects. In the category Online/Web Projects the website "Take this dance and forget my name" is the winner, in Offline Projects/Interactive DVD "Auschwitz on stage". The award for Mobile Applications was given to the Slovenian project "RoboVox: Your Voice" and "Ace of Mace" won the Games category. In Interactive TV "Kika and Bob" convinced the jury. "Retype" was chosen among all submitted Content Tools & Interface Designs and in Digital Video & Animations "Gisela" is the winner. The Austrian "Tagtool" won in Interactive Computer Graphics.
